Rainbow Resource Co. was founded in 1973 in the South Bay area of Southern California. After having a retail fabric store presence in both Southern and Northern California for several years, Charlene Younker re-located in '81 to the Mendocino coastline of Northern California. Charlene began by designing doll clothes and later majored in fashion design in college. She sold her original designs in Hollywood and other trendy areas of Southern California. A desire to create unique items led her into exploring dyeing, screen printing, and other surface design processes. A family history of piecework and quilting led to using these techniques in wearable art, home decor, and embellished quilts. Charlene now works exclusively out of her home based studio in Albion and can be found at selected Quilt Shows.
